Can we refreeze the Arctic? Scientists are beginning to ask

This article discusses efforts to figure out whether we can re-freeze the Arctic and glaciers around the world. They include things like white blankets over glaciers to reflect heat, using giant pumps to refreeze vanishing Arctic sea ice, and building huge mounds on the seafloor aimed at preventing warm water from melting glaciers. A number of these ideas were presented at the American Geophysical Union’s conference in December, as reported by Oceans Deeply.

None of these ideas are really viable, due to cost. The real solution? Stop emitting GHGs into the atmosphere.
