There were five bills on the agenda for Tuesday afternoon’s meeting of the House Financial Services Committee: the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Rewards Act, the Consumers First Act, the Secure and Fair Enforcement Banking Act of 2019, the S.E.C. Disclosure Effectiveness Testing Act, and the Ending Homelessness Act of 2019. In the form of a spurious amendment to that last bill, the Republican congressman Sean Duffy effectively added a sixth: a version of the Green New Deal.
