Uruguay Bans Fracking for 4 Years
Uruguay Parliament gave the green light to restrict the use of hydraulic drilling. Uruguay has tabled a bill to block fracking for a four-year period. The bill was approved on Dec. 5 by the Senate.

New York’s Fracking Ban isn’t all it’s cracked up to be
This article by the Center for Public Integrity, discusses the dichotomy in the NY State fracking ban – no fracking in NY, but fracking gas is allowed into NY via pipelines. In 2014, Gov. Andrew Cuomo banned hydraulic fracturing in NY, declaring that “no child should live near” a shale-gas well because of its potential harm. But it’s apparently ok if they don’t live in NY. The article doesn’t mention one other quirk – NY allows frackingwaste to be used to de-ice NY roads. Imagine that!
