Petroleum professors discuss fracking

Fracking is at the heart of the U.S. energy revolution, but its detractors say it can have harmful effects on the environment.

“Hydraulic fracturing is a type of drilling that has been used by oil companies for over 65 years,” Marshall Watson, associate professor of petroleum engineering, said. “In Texas, over 444,000 jobs are sustained by drilling in just the Permian Basin.”
