Fracking drills uncertainty for water conservation

Compared to the state’s overall water usage, the amount of water fracking uses is a drop in the bucket. It amounts to about 1 to 2 percent of all water used statewide, but over time that amount can add up. In some counties with higher concentrations of gas wells, fracking can account for 30 or 40 percent of all water used, chemistry professor Kevin Schug said.
