Forests Protect the Climate – More Storms Means More Trouble.

This article discusses the critical role that forests play in mitigating climate change. So the impact of more and more severe storms means trouble for forests. Researchers are hiking through the El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico, to assess the destruction to the forest. Led by María Uriarte, an ecologist at Columbia University, they were here to study the damage and better understand how an expected increase in extreme weather may undermine the ability of forests to aid the climate.
